Social Studies
We will begin to study the Revolutionary War.  We will be using a book in class called If You Lived at the Time of the American Revolution.  We will also use other books that I will read to them in class.  There will be many hand-outs and activities done in class to cover this topic.
Writing
We are writing descriptively this marking period.  We will begin brainstroming a list of descriptive words and take it from there.  We are working on a 3 paragraph writing piece about luggage lost at the airport. DOL and writing drills (ex: today we will fill in a graphic organizer for developing plot) are part of our writing program.
Reading
We have finished reading section 5 of the book.  This is the end of the book.  There will be many activities at the end of the book including a whole book test for comprehension and vocabulary.  The test will be Tuesday 12/9.  Today(12/1)  they will be introduced to the book report for the marking period.  There is a rubric attached.  The dates are on the instruction sheet.
Grammar
This week we begin Adjectives to accompany our descriptive writing.
Spelling
Spelling lesson this week on p. 44.  Mon., Tues., Wed. night there is written homework when there is a spelling unit being covered.  The unit test is given on Fri.  In a week with less than 5 days there is no spelling unit.

Special Note:  Our book reports were great.  They are displayed in the hallway outside our door.  Be sure to take a look when you come to conferences this month.

This week we have the storyteller in fourth grade.  She will be with us once a week for 5 weeks on Thrusdays period 3.

Our homework assignments are posted daily on the assignment board.  The students are given time to copy the homework daily.
