Class Information
PHILOSOPHY:
To enable each student to communicate according to his/her ability in Spanish/Italian through the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Also, to enable each student to develop communicative and cultural competence in a language along the continuum of the learning process.
GOALS:
-to appreciate culture and beauty in the world.
-to learn how to respect people who think and act differently.
-to develop pride in work and feeling of self-worth.
-to develop skills to enter a specific work force.

Spanish 7,8: Como te Va? Text, wkbk, proficiency practice wkbk. student notebook dictionary, "La Gran Aventura de Alejandro" reader and Spanish I Review book.
Notebook: BRR,Cultura, Grammar, Homework, Vocabulary, Enrichment,CRT's

EXPECTATIONS:
~Arrive on time with all of the above required materials.
~Respect others as you wish to be respected.
~No gum chewing.
~You must raise your hand with a question or comment.
GRADING POLICY:
Homework: 20% of your marking period grade
~Must be completed neatly.
~Assignments will be collected, corrected in class or checked by coming around the classroom.
~When you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out about missed notes or assignments. Your are responsible for handing in any homework assignment due during your absence or "pull-out"
Quizzes: 20% of your marking period grade
~Will be announced.
~If you are absent, see me immediately upon your return to reschedule.
Tests/Projects: 40% of your marking period grade
~Chapter and unit tests as well as projects will always be announced in advance.
~It is your responsibility to meet the deadline for projects. You will receive one grade lower each day your assignment is not completed.
Class Participation: 20% of your marking period grade
Class Participation is imperative in a world language class. It is volunteering, asking questions, willing particpation in all oral activities. It is an important part of your grade and of the learning acquisition process. A "Class Participation" rubric has been distributed to each student so they are aware of all the requirements and expectations.
OBJECTIVES:
Students will complete Spanish1/Italian 1 as directed by Northern Valley Regional High School and develop organizational skills for a meaningful transition to the high school World Language Program.

Students will be responsible to see Mrs. Duffy for work and to receive a pass or a note from parent/guardian. Also please check webpage and calendar for missed work and assessments.
