Philosophy of Speech and Language Therapy

Speech therapy should be fun and interactive!
Family participation is a vital part of progress and is always welcomed!

The scope and nature of our therapy is defined into various targeted areas:

a. Articulation/Phonology: demonstration of sound production error patterns beyond the age at which 90% of the population has achieved mastery according to current developmental norms and misarticulates sounds consistently in a speech sample.

Phonology includes patterns of sound usage from a linguistic rather than merely a motoric perspective (articulation) and encompasses the rules that govern speech sound production in context.

b. Language therapy:a disruption in the learning or use of one's native language as evidenced by : form, content, pragmatics or metalinguistic aspects of language.

c. Voice:  evidence of abnormal pitch, loudness or vocal quality. Voice disorders range from mild hoarseness to complete vocal loss and may limit oral communication.
