Band Placement
Which Band Will I Be In?

Band placement depends on three things:

1.Your dependability (on time attendance)

2.The need for your instrument (we can only have a certain amount of each instrument in each band)

3.Your skill and experience level as a musician (click here to learn about your Band Skill Rating)

For most students, with some exceptions, it will work like this:

If you were a member of Beginner Band last year with good attendance,
and your Band Skill Rating was 75 or higher, you should be a member of Concert Band this year.

If you were a member of Concert Band last year with good attendance,
and your Band Skill Rating was 75 or higher, you should be a member of Junior Winds this year.

If you were a member of Junior Winds last year with good attendance,
and your Band Skill Rating was 90 or higher, you should be a member of Wind Ensemble this year.
Junior Winds members with Band Skill Ratings between 80 and 90 may be considered for Wind Ensemble.
Wind Ensemble membership is based on your dependability, attitude, playing skill, and the need for your instrument.
Even highly skilled Junior Winds members may have to wait for an opening on their instrument before they can join Wind Ensemble.

Band members with poor attendance, and low Band Skill Ratings will be asked to leave the Band Program.
