Band Skill Rating

Links to all the Band Skill Rating Sheets are at the bottom of this page.
You are required to have the correct sheets in your folder at all times.

Your Band Skill Rating is a way of measuring your skills as a musician.
It's important that you understand how this number is created,
and what it means.

Most important for all:  Your Band Skill Rating is a way of measuring the
effectiveness of your practice, and guiding you towards better practice habits.

About the Score Guidelines
Note that Jr. Winds or Wind Ensemble music is far more difficult, and requires more experience
in both reading notation and playing your instrument, than Concert or Beginner Band.
For example: A Beginner with a skill rating of 95 is most likely not as skilled a musician
as a Wind Ensemble member with a rating of 85.

Most students need to progress through each band to gain the experience needed
to play in Wind Ensemble.

Score Guidelines:

Beginners
February:  70 or higher
   June:   80 or higher
Concert Band
75-85 or higher
Jr. Winds
80-90 or higher
Wind Ensemble
 85 or higher
