Grade 2
Jazz It Up!
2nd graders had such a good time looking at Picasso's cubist painting, "Three Musicians" and listening to Jazz music in art class that we created our own "life size" musicians. In the cubist style we drew our musicians and instruments on 36" x 24" paper and painted it with tempera paint. Some play on a street in the city, while others play on a stage or at the beach!
Watch out American Idol...Here we come!!!
Henri Matisse & The Paper Collage
As Henri Matisse grew older, the French Painter began to lose his eyesight. His love for color was just too strong to give up making art, so he began "drawing with scissors"! These collages inspired to create our own collages with a variety of themes from "Indiana Jones" to "Outer Space"!
Vincent Van Gogh & His Bedroom in Arles
After looking very closely at Van Gogh's Impressionistic representation of his French Bedroom, we created our own rooms using oil pastels! Layering colors was fun and we were even introduced to perspective!
