Reminder:  Each entry must begin with a capital letter and end with a period.  All entries are double-spaced and the second/third/fourth lines are indented.

RESEARCH PAPER

ASSIGNMENT/DIRECTIONS:
ALL ASSIGNMENTS ARE TO BE TYPED AND SAVED ON A DISC, CD, OR MEMORY STICK. THE FONT SHOULD BE “TIMES NEW ROMAN.”  THE FONT SIZE IS 12. ALL PAPERS ARE TO BE DOUBLE-SPACED, WITH ONE INCH MARGINS ON TOP, BOTTOM, RIGHT AND LEFT.
1)      RESEARCH PAPER-TOPICS
LIST THREE TOPICS, NUMBERED IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE, IN COLUMN FORM, AND DOUBLE SPACE BETWEEN TOPICS.
2)      RESEARCH PAPER-SOURCES
CREATE SOURCE CARDS ( 4X6 INDEX CARDS) FOR EACH SOURCE YOU PLAN TO USE. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS FOR WORKS CITED ENTRIES THAT MRS. NOVAK HAS GIVEN YOU.
3)      RESEARCH  PAPER- NOTE CARDS
SUBMIT 1 SOURCE CARD FOR EACH SOURCE AND A MINIMUM OF 8 NOTE CARDS FOR EACH SOURCE. CARDS MUST BE 4X6. (REFER TO YOUR CLASS NOTES FOR CORRECT FORMAT)
**A face card, which contains your name and class, should be the first card in the batch, held together by a rubber band. Each source card will be followed by the note cards from that source.
                               
OUTLINE:
OUTLINES ARE DONE IN THE STANDARD HARVARD OUTLINE FORMAT. YOUR PRELIMINARY OUTLINE SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST 5 ROMAN NUMERALS TO START WITH. (MAIN IDEAS) EACH MAIN IDEA SHOULD ANSWER AN IMPORTANT QUESTION RELATING TO YOUR TOPIC. BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR THESIS
STATEMENT AT THE TOP OF THE OUTLINE.

THIS SHOULD CONSIST OF STATEMENTS WHICH PROCEED FROM GENERAL TO SPECIFIC. THE THESIS STATEMENT MUST BE UNDERLINED. (THE INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH WILL BE DEVELOPED IN CLASS)
6)      ROUGH DRAFT
MUST CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING:
TITLE PAGE, THE FIRST DRAFT OF YOUR RESEARCH PAPER, WORKS CITED, AND A BLANK PIECE OF PAPER. THIS WILL ALL BE STAPLED IN THE TOP, LEFT-HAND CORNER. (NO REPORT COVERS OR CLEAR COVERS OF ANY KIND) Please include your GRADED final outline when submitting
the rough draft.
7)      FINAL COPY
(2 COPIES) MUST CONSIST OF TITLE PAGE, RESEARCH PAPER, AND WORKS CITED PAGE, ALL STAPLED IN THE TOP, LEFT-HAND CORNER. ( 2 COPIES OF THE FINAL PAPER, PLEASE) THE RUBRIC MUST BE PLACED ON TOP OF THE FINAL PAPER.
**YOU WILL BE GIVEN A MANILA ENVELOPE WITH YOUR NAME ON IT. WHEN HANDING IN YOUR FINAL COPIES, PLEASE PLACE THE FOLLOWING IN THE ENVELOPE: THE RUBRIC, YOUR SOURCE CARDS AND NOTE CARDS, GRADED FINAL OUTLINE, GRADED ROUGH DRAFT AND BOTH FINAL COPIES.
* BE AWARE OF THE DUE DATES AND BE PREPARED TO HAND IN THE ASSIGNMENTS ON TIME. THE ONLY EXCUSE FOR NOT BEING PROMPT IS AN EXTENDED ABSENCE. IF ANY ONE OF THE ABOVE ASSIGNMENTS IS NOT HANDED IN ON THE DUE DATE OR IS NOT DONE SATISFACTORILY, 3-5 POINTS
