4R News

Big News:  Weekly Study Island assignments have begun.  Be sure to check the class assignments when your child logs onto Study Island.  Please notify me if you encounter any complications.

Students in 4R are working hard in each of our units of study.

We finished our second published writing assignment which culminated in a class autograph activity in which we celebrated our rich experiences recalled in our personal narratives.  We now have a greater appreciation of writing for an audience.

In Math we are beginning our addition and subtraction unit reinforcing and building on our knowledge of addition and subtraction.  We continue to improve our number sense and problem solving ability through problem solving activities.  In Reading we have begun our first class novel, Sarah, Plain and Tall.  We will be addressing themes of family and exploring pioneer life with this novel.  We have concluded our unit on human body systems in Science and will now move on to our exploration of earth.  Expect to hear more about earthquakes and volcanoes soon.  In Social Studies we are continuing our understanding of geography by exploring the geography of New Jersey.  We have begun researching one of New Jersey's 21 counties, and we are making a poster showcasing our research.  We are a busy bunch.
