A school health program is generally described as having three basic functions.
To provide for a safe and healthful school environment
To implement an ongoing and effective health education curriculum
To deliver health services to students and staff
Stay Home??? Go To School.
It is very important for you as the parent/guardian of your child to recognize when it is not prudent for your child to be in school. The following is a list of indicators to assist you in knowing when to keep your child home from school.
Vomiting within the last 24 hours.
Diarrhea within the last 24 hours
Temperature of 100 degrees of higher within the last 24 hours.
Strep is suspected--results of throat culture have not been received
Positive throat culture for strep throat. Child may return to school no sooner than 24 hours after antibiotic has been started.
Any symptoms of acute illness such as persistent cough and/or running nose with body aches.
Please promote hand washing in the family. Hand washing is the most effective means of preventing the spread of communicable diseases.
Reminder : Please notify the school if your child is going to be late or absent from school. Call the Attendance/Late phone number before 8:30 am and leave a message. 201-768-3860 ext.1133. You can call day or night.
