Dear Parent(s),
Congratulations! You are the parent of a second grade student here at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. I am very excited about this school year! Second grade is very important to your child, and he/she will need a lot of encouragement. I will strive to help your child become more independent and responsible with his/her work habits. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me. There are a few things that you will need to know in order to make this a successful year for your child.
1. Please check your child’s homework folder every evening. You will usually find it packed with notices from the offices, as well as notes from me.
2. Homework will be assigned Monday-Thursday. All homework assignments will be copied into your child’s homework assignment books each morning. Please sign the book every night to show that you have gone over it with your child. If your child is having trouble with a concept or assignment, please write a note in his/her assignment book. This will allow me to work with your child and clear up any confusion that he/she may have had. Each morning, your child will receive a sticker for your signature.
3. Your child will need a small, healthy morning snack.
4. The following is our schedule for all specials:
Monday: Art & Library
Tuesday: Technology & Physical Education
Wednesday: Italian
Thursday: Physical Education
Friday: Music
**Please make sure that your child is wearing sneakers on the days that we have Phys. Ed.
I will be posting monthly newsletters on my website to alert you of major events, activities, and units that our class will be participating in.
